Benefits of Membership

In addition to being part of a large, vibrant, like-minded network of organizations engaged in complementary activities, and the built-in opportunities for networking and collaboration, there are concrete benefits to membership in the Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles.

Participation in active Working Groups

  • Our Working Groups engage with community stakeholders and policy makers to advance issues in areas of interest. Current actions include co-sponsoring a symposium on restorative justice, presenting a panel at Loyola Law Marymount's Juvenile Justice Week, participating in rallies and protests, and meeting with City Councilmembers to promote specific legislation.

  • In the coming year we will be offering an ongoing Speakers Series that is open to members (and non-members for a fee) that will feature high-level speakers in an intimate setting speaking on related topics.

Evaluation

  • Membership in the VPCGLA provides access to low-cost, established evaluation services through UCLA to determine program effectiveness and provide evidence-based data for grants.

Funding Opportunities

  • VPCGLA lists relevant private and public funding opportunities to members
  • VPCGLA offers opportunities for members to collaborate among themselves for grants
  • VPCGLA offers an umbrella 501c3 for members that provides a long history of collaboration with community stakeholders and policy makers for grants that require such partnership.

Additionally, our weekly eLetter goes out to hundreds of current and former members and individuals, providing a platform of communication to share work that is being done, raise awareness for events, and profile member organizations.
